Over the holidays I got to rummage through my mom’s collection of old family photos and I found some neat old ones. I just took cellphone pics of the photos since I didn’t have access to a good scanner.

First up we have my grandmother posing with what I believe is a brand spanking new 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook. It might be a Cranbrook Belvedere, but I can’t tell if its a 2 door or 4 door. The photo was dated April 24, 1951 and Wikipedia says this model was introduced on March 31, 1951 so it looks like my grandma got one of the first ones out.

Some tidbits from Wikipedia about the car

The Plymouth Cranbrook, as a car, was conservatively styled, designed to fit K.T. Keller’s notion that cars be practical and allow drivers to sit upright while wearing a hat

Powering the Belvedere is a flathead 217.8 cu in (3.6 L) !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! engine with a 7.00:1 compression ratio producing 97 hp (72 kW; 98 PS) (SAE gross).

Got to have enough room for your hat.

Next we have my grandfather chilling by a truck when he was in the Army in WWII. He served in the Pacific theater with most of his time spent in the Philippines.

I have a picture somewhere of him working on a Jeep while in the Philippines, but I can’t seem to find it.

This one is my dad driving a tractor, on the back it was dated 1976 so he was probably about 20 years old at the time. The farm should be somewhere near Jackson, Mississippi.

Cheers! Happy Friday to all!

Love this kind of thing, I’ve got some cool vehicle-related family black and whites as well.
